Walls Are Going Up

Let the countdown begin!

We asked our builder representative before purchasing our home, “how does one of your homes take to build?” The answer we got back was about five and a half months from lumber drop. So imagine our surprise and excitement when we drove by our new home to see our walls going up.

It was about a week.

About a week before our excitement began, we drove by and saw the pile of lumber. Sitting. Waiting. Waiting for the framers to arrive for the first step in seeing our home go from concrete footings to walls … well framed walls.

And those walls were going up fast.

It took about a week for each floor. Watching the workers hammer in each board was so exciting to see. We visited our home after work each day and watched the concrete footings start looking like a house from the driveway with big smiles on our faces.

And Then We Went Inside

The moment one of the framers asked us if we wanted to come closer to take a look, the answer was “yes”. It was raining and the rain was leaking to the first floor as we walked around. And it was wonderful! Leon and I joked with each other that the roof was leaky, we needed to get that fixed as we just kept looking around, imagining a day in the not so distant future moving in.
